The Parish Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month (excluding August), usually in the Outwood Room at the Centenary Hall, Wheelers Lane, Smallfield.
Normally, the Planning Committee meets before any other council meeting, starting at 6:30pm or 6:45pm, depending on the length of the agenda.
All other meetings, such as Full Council or the Finance and General Purpose meetings, start at 7pm sharp.
Please check individual agendas for the correct starting time, as these may vary slightly according to the amount of business to be resolved.
Meetings are open to the public and a period of 15 minutes is set aside at the beginning of each meeting to allow members of the public to speak on any matter that appears on the agenda. Such public sessions form part of the Council meeting in law and shall be duly minuted.
If a member of the public wishes to speak on a matter that is not tabled in the agenda, it will proceed on the approval of the Chairman or referred to the clerk for inclusion on the agenda for the next meeting. If anyone wants to raise a query, it often helps if to contact the clerk beforehand to facilitate a meaningful response.
Members of the public are very welcome to stay as observers for the remainder of the Council meeting, but they will not be able to join in any subsequent discussions. If confidential items (e.g. legal, contractural or staffing matters) are discussed, members of the public may be excluded.
