Neighbourhood Alert
15th June 2018

NOTTINGHAM KNOCKER's

Tandridge Beat officers dealt with a rather distressing report of a particularly aggressive Nottingham Knocker in Park Road, Caterham, at about 11am on Wednesday 6th June. He left the elderly couple in a distressed state and by the time they got round to calling us, 'Chummy' was well gone!

We have also recently been operating in Burstow. These individuals can be a real nuisance and can cause fear and intimidation.

When they tell you that they are on any type of 'Rehabilitation Scheme'; please be assured that this is absolutely untrue. Whatever their sob storey its not true.

There are no nationally accredited projects anywhere in the UK for 'reformed offenders' that authorises, causes or permits, this form of door to door selling.

It's a scam.

ALERT - Neighbourhood Watch
27th May 2018

Those of you who have read the recent reports on In the Know will be aware of the thefts of post from external post boxes.

Downlands Lane, Smallfield. Between 11.00 and 12.00 May 12th a very dark skinned male, average height and build with very dark and thick black hair, aged 30 to 40 and wearing a high viz top removed mail from a post box. He is believed to have been driving a white or cream small car (ref 45180049404).

One victim has had a credit card statement for nearly £20,000 with purchases of diamond jewellery and Apple computers in Antwerp. They used their address, date of birth etc (easy to obtain if you know how) to obtain a credit card then must have returned a second time to collect the card delivered to the address.

Please ensure if you have an external post box, especially if you live in the remote areas of the village that the slot is too small for a hand and is locked. If your post man does not post the mail all the way through your front door then you must instruct him to do so.

Burstow School Hedge
15th February 2018

Update - Unfortunately the fence has been positioned so close to the pavement that the Parish Council's offer to plant vegetation in front is no longer viable. We also note that the fence is 2.0m high and not 1.8m as previously advised.

Dowlands Park Development Leaflet
15th February 2018

It has come to our attention that the applicant for Dowlands Park (to build 88 houses in the Green Belt) has written to all residents in the Parish, to our District Councillors and to Parish Councillors.

The leaflet distributed by the applicant implies that the Parish Council is supporting this development and that the concerns we raised on behalf of residents have been addressed. Neither of these things is true.

Redehall Road Car park TA/2017/2528
23rd January 2018

For quite a while now there has been insufficient parking in Smallfield, especially around school opening and closing times. Several accidents have happened and numerous near misses.

The Parish Council, working in collaboration with Burstow School, have submitted a planning application to build a 55-bay car park along the front section of the School's playing field on Redehall Road.
